Thread: Razer Nostromo Profiles?

  1. #1

    Question Razer Nostromo Profiles?

    Hello there!

    After many weeks spent in beta and now in the live game I finally reached the frustration point with using just a mouse and keyboard. So I recently bought a Razer Nostromo game controller so I can avoid having to use the keyboard while in combat. (This is especially annoying when you have long fingernails. :-)

    So I was wondering if anyone out there had come up with a nice Nostromo profile for The Secret World, or if perhaps your prior experiences could suggest a viable profile. I started with a basic sequence of:
    [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
    [6] [7] [?] [?] [?]
    [?] [?] [?] [Shift-R]

    With the D-pad at defaults, button 15 as Space and button 16 as Tab.

    I'm finding it a little frustrating to get buttons 6 or 7 hit properly but that may be because I'm still getting used to the device.

    I would appreciate your cogent suggestions for a good profile.

    Thanks!

    i mostly use my standardized unified mmo profile slightly modified for each game

    in tsw its

    12w34
    5asd6
    7890

    (no usage for 890 yet that i've needed, and reserving them for if ever they fulfill our request for a hotkeyable consumable/gadget bar with 3-4 slots)

    dpad north - jump
    dpad south - voice ptt
    dpad west - sprint toggle
    dpad east - auto loot

    space bar - fraps record toggle
    alt thumb button - active dodge

    hope this helps you

    I would be very iterested in comments on this as well. I bought the Nostromo a year or so ago but i've never really used it because i've never found a layout that works for me in games. The entirely new layout messes with my brain.

    i recomend to people to give it at least 1 week of regular play 2-3+ hours per day to get past the awkward/weird feel of using it.

    changing your profile/keybind paradigmns with it will also take time to get used to.

    people who don't do this always always always end up hating it and shelving it.

    The main reason I have trouble shelving the keyboard and using my Nostromo is that when I do I realize how much I rely on things like TAB and ESC and SPACEBAR, TILDE, and X as well in this game.

    Mine

    Pad:

    ` Q w E R
    TAB A S D F
    CTRL Z X C

    What I use for:
    ` = Combat stance on/off
    Q = Hotbar shortcut
    WASD = movement
    E = Hotbar shortcut
    R = Character Profile
    TAB = Targetting
    F = Autoloot
    CTRL = ctrl
    Z = Strafe left
    X = Sprint Toggle
    C = Strafe right

    dpad north - Nothing yet
    dpad south - Nothing yet
    dpad west - Target Self (Defensive)
    dpad east - Map

    space bar - Jump
    alt thumb button - Nothing yet

    Using it together with a naga epic, so on there is my 1-12 buttons. This is roughly my main profile for MMO's, and I adjust slighty per game (ongoing process). Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the interesting ideas!

    I was wondering how,with that setup, do you initiate your active abilities (default 1-7 on k/b)? Is that through the Naga device you mentioned?

    Yes. With the 12 buttons on the side of the mouse. The hotbar ingame goes like:

    1 2 3 4 5 Q E MiddleMousebutton. Works great for me, you mileage may vary ofc.
